The Government of the Russian Federation has approved a voluntary contribution of 2 million US dollars to the budget of the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (OCT). Furthermore, from 2019 onwards Russia will allocate 500 thousand US dollars per year to finance the activities of OCT.
Countering terrorism is one of the key priorities of the United Nations. The new Office addresses a variety of important issues, most notably by providing technical assistance to states most vulnerable to terrorist threats. The Russian Federation will now add its financial support to these efforts becoming one of the major donors of the UN in the field of counter-terrorism.
