Remarks to the Press on the Russian-Chinese draft UNSC Press statement

Q: Why was not the Russian-Chinese UNSC draft press statement in support for the progress in the settlement of the situation on the Korean peninsula adopted?

A: Unfortunately, March 14 did not become the day of preserving the unity of the UN Security Council. For the second time in a day, Western delegations - this time the US - blocked a positive initiative. It was the draft SC press statement submitted by Russia and China to support the progress in settlement of the situation on the Korean peninsula due to the recent breakthrough agreements on high-level meetings between the leaders of the DPRK, the USA and Republic of Korea. The US decision to stop working on the Russian-Chinese initiative without any discussion among the members of the UN Security Council raises questions about Washington's true intentions in the context of the recent warming in inter-Korean relations.
