Welcoming remarks by Permanent Representative Vassily Nebenzia at the opening ceremony of Photo-Exhibition "Achieving the SDGs through Regional Integration. Experience from the countries of Eurasian Economic Union"
Dear colleagues and friends,
It is a great pleasure to welcome you at the opening of the photo exhibition dedicated to the progress in achievement of SDGs, in particular those in review at the High Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, in the countries of Eurasian Economic Union.
Reality and trends show that regional economic integration in particular within the EAEU has become an important driver in implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda by Member States.
This photo-exhibition was prepared in cooperation with Permanent Missions of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan as well as with participation of Eurasian Economic Commission and illustrates actual work done on the ground by our governments, private sector, business and other partners with an aim to implement SDGs and achieve sustainable economic growth for all people.
If you look at the photos it is very clear that the implementation of Agenda 2030 in EAEU region is going on in very diverse area, based on national priorities. Here are the youth integrational initiatives, national coordinator mechanisms, programs in healthcare and education, climate change and inequalities projects, innovative experiences of SDG laboratory.
Russia is gradually increasing its national contribution to global efforts aimed at achieving sustainable development. National strategic priority projects include 12 strategic development areas and cover all SDGs. We are ready to exchange best practices from our experience at national and regional level. Russia will present its first ever Voluntary National Review in 2020.
It is my pleasure to acknowledge the presence here of Ms.Tatina Valovaya, Minister for Integration and Macroeconomics of the EEC, who will present Eurasian Economic Union perspective.
In 2017 the EAEU became the first regional integration association, which presented a SDG achievement report at the High-Level Policy Forum on Sustainable Development under the auspices of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
