Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the United Nations

Remarks to the press by Ambassador V.Churkin, Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations

Q: What happens to your draft resolution?

V.Churkin: Some of our friends showed their colors once again. A P3 (USA, UK, France) and of course Ukraine joined them. They don’t really know what they want. You cannot please them, whatever you do is wrong. This is the reality.

Q: What was their problem with the draft press statement?

V.Churkin: I have no idea. They did not like it.

Q: Is it dead now?

V.Churkin: Well, they have blocked it, as I expected incidentally.

Q: Things are still quiet this morning from your end in Syria?

V.Churkin: Except that the Belgians bombed some civilians last night near Aleppo. They are denying that it was a Belgium jet but apparently some coalition jets were involved and they bombed some civilian targets near Aleppo.
